At Barta Animal Hospital, we believe annual wellness care is imperative to keeping your pet happy and healthy! Your pet’s health is important and preventive care is necessary. We recommend wellness exams, keeping your pets on a vaccination schedule, and working with us on all facets of wellness care.

During your annual physical exam, your veterinarian thoroughly examines your pet and discusses vaccinations and ongoing wellness. Just like you have regular wellness visits with your doctor, your pet must do the same. During these visits, our team will spend time examining your pet from nose to tail.

Many of the diseases that can affect dogs and cats are preventable through proper pet vaccinations. Starting your pet on the right schedule early on is one of the keys to a long and healthy life. Vaccines are special proteins that prime the immune system to fight off specific infections. They work in two ways, reducing the severity of such diseases should they strike or preventing infection.

FIRST VET VISIT

Our veterinarians recommend that you set up your pet’s first visit with us soon after adoption. It’s essential to get your new pet set up with a good parasite and vaccination program as well as a thorough examination to assure your puppy or kitten is healthy and prepared to stay that way.

It’s easy to keep your pet protected from parasites like fleas, ticks, and heartworm, and we’re here to help! Why is this so important to us? Fleas and ticks are not only a source of irritation to your pet, but they can also harbor disease and adversely affect your pet’s health.

It can be difficult or is not always possible to bring your pet to our clinic. We’re proud to now offer our clients farm call visits so we can see your animals where they are most comfortable – at home!

We offer on-farm visits.

We are home to a state-of-the-art surgical suite equipped to handle all of your pet’s surgical needs. Our doctors perform a variety of soft tissue procedures, including spay/neuter, laceration repairs, tumor removals, gastrointestinal surgeries, ophthalmic surgeries, and bladder stone removals. Select orthopedic procedures such as amputations and femoral head osteotomies are also offered.

We offer private cremation services, where the ashes are returned to the owner. We do offer our clients urns as well.

Custom Urns

I have been asked a lot of questions about the wood urns that we sell at the clinic for cremations, so I thought I would give you a little history about them.  I have been building them for the last four years and selling them at the clinic to give owners another option for their pets.  Four years ago, I had an old retired police dog come in that was suffering from debilitating arthritis and other geriatric issues that we expect in German shepherds.  We, unfortunately, decided that the kindest thing we could do for the dog was to humanely euthanize the dog.  When it came time to choose an urn for the dog, our stand urns didn’t seem to be enough for this dog.  This dog and his partner spent their entire life serving our community, and we felt that we needed to do something special to commemorate this dog and his service.  The first wooden urn I built was for him.  It was painted black and blue, and the Sheriff’s department gave me one of their patches to mount to the front.  To this day, I hope that the deputy knows how much we appreciate everything he and his partner did for all of us in the community.

Everyone at the clinic wants all the animals we care for to be happy and healthy.  We work hard every day in order to get animals home to their loved ones.  Unfortunately, some pets are too old or too ill to live a happy life.  At this time, we still want to get them home to their loved ones as quickly as we can.  This year we invested in a brand new crematory.  The new crematory is more efficient, allowing us to get pets back home quicker.  We will do the best we can to keep your pets healthy.  When the time comes that our best isn’t enough, we want to make sure that the loss is as easy on the family as possible.

However, boarding your pet at Barta Animal Hospital means that they will be cared for by a highly skilled and compassionate veterinary team who will treat your pet as if it were their own.

We are happy to see all types of animals, whether they are covered in scales or fur! We know that your exotic pet is a member of your family. Our team makes it our number one priority to ensure they are happy and healthy. Regular wellness visits are critical in maintaining the health of your exotic pet. We also offer additional exotic pet services such as internal medicine, diagnostics, and more.

A microchip is about the size and shape of a grain of rice and is placed underneath your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades. Microchip implantation takes only a few minutes and is very safe. Each microchip is unique and carries vital information about your pet—including your name, address, and contact information. When a microchip is implanted, the pet owner is given a registration form to complete. Registering the number on the microchip includes your pet in a national pet recovery database. Veterinary hospitals, animal shelters, and animal control offices across the country are equipped with special electronic scanners that can detect the microchip and read the identification number.
